One-day surgery
Modern, minimally invasive procedures with rapid recovery - admitted, treated and discharged the same day.
Same day surgery - also called day-case or outpatient surgery - covers procedures modern enough to admit, treat, and discharge you within a single day, thanks to minimally invasive techniques and improved anaesthesia. It spans everything from hernia repairs and varicose vein treatments to eyelid surgery, bunion correction, and skin lesion excision, with recovery happening at home rather than in a hospital bed.
At heal&there, same day surgery is built around a focused set of minimally invasive procedures - inguinal, femoral and umbilical hernia repairs, ClariVein and sclerotherapy for varicose veins, MICA bunion surgery, trigger finger release, upper eyelid blepharoplasty, and skin excisions. All are delivered in Prague by English-speaking surgeons, with transparent all-in pricing and a coordinator who keeps you informed from consultation through to discharge.

Recurrent Hernia Repair
For a hernia that has come back after an earlier repair, where scar tissue and a weakened abdominal wall make the operation more demanding than a first-time repair. The defect is rebuilt with extra reinforcement - usually mesh - to restore structural support and reduce the chance of it returning again. Performed under general or regional anaesthetic with an overnight stay for monitoring. To start, send a photo of the area and a medical report that includes details of the previous operation if you have them.
Best for · hernia that returned after an earlier repair · reinforcing a weakened abdominal wall
Includes · recurrent hernia repair · mesh reinforcement · entry examination · overnight hospital stay
Laparoscopic Hernia Repair (recurrent)
A keyhole (laparoscopic or thoracoscopic) approach to repairing a hernia that has returned after previous surgery. Working through a few small incisions instead of a full open incision means less tissue trauma and usually less post-operative pain - particularly useful when scar tissue from earlier operations makes an open approach more difficult. Performed under general anaesthetic with an overnight stay for monitoring. To start, send a photo of the area and a medical report covering the previous repair if available.
Best for · recurrent hernia · keyhole approach · less post-operative pain
Includes · laparoscopic hernioplasty · entry examination · overnight hospital stay
Laparoscopic Hernia Repair (inguinal + umbilical)
A laparoscopic repair for patients who have both an inguinal (groin) hernia and an umbilical (navel) hernia. Both defects are repaired through the same keyhole approach in a single operation, so there is one anaesthetic, one recovery and one hospital stay rather than two separate procedures. Performed under general anaesthetic with an overnight stay for monitoring. To start, send a photo of both areas and a medical report from your doctor.
Best for · two hernias repaired together · one operation, one recovery
Includes · laparoscopic repair of both hernias · entry examination · overnight hospital stay
Small Excision (under 10 cm)
A quick, minor procedure to remove a skin lesion, mole or small growth that's cosmetically bothersome, changing in appearance, or simply worth having checked and removed as a precaution. Performed entirely under local anaesthetic in an outpatient setting, with the wound closed using dissolvable or removable stitches depending on location. If the doctor judges that the tissue needs checking, histology (lab analysis) is added as a separate line. To start, send a photo of the lesion - the doctor uses it to confirm whether a small or a larger excision is the right procedure.
Best for · moles · skin lesions · small growths · precautionary removal
Includes · local anaesthetic excision · wound closure · same-day discharge
Large Excision with Flap Reconstruction
For lesions too large to close with simple stitches, this procedure combines removal with a local flap reconstruction - repositioning nearby skin and tissue to close the wound cleanly and minimise scarring. Still performed as a same-day outpatient procedure under local anaesthetic, though recovery and wound care take a little longer to manage than a simple excision. To start, send a photo of the lesion so the doctor can confirm the technique; histology is added separately if clinically indicated.
Best for · larger lesions · clean closure · minimising scarring
Includes · lesion removal · local flap reconstruction · wound closure
Sclerotherapy - Varicose Veins (1 leg)
A tried-and-tested vein treatment where a solution is injected directly into smaller varicose or spider veins, causing them to collapse and gradually fade from view as the body reabsorbs them over the following weeks. No incisions, no anaesthesia beyond the injections themselves, and no real downtime - most patients are back to normal activity the same day, aside from wearing compression stockings briefly as advised. A vascular entry examination is carried out first and is included in the price. Best suited to smaller surface veins; larger varicosities are better served by ClariVein.
Best for · smaller surface varicose/spider veins · no-incision option · quick recovery
Includes · injection-based vein closure · compression guidance
Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty (both eyes)
Removes excess, sagging skin (and sometimes fat) from the upper eyelids - done purely for a fresher, more open-eyed appearance, or medically where drooping skin has started to encroach on the visual field. Performed under local anaesthetic as a same-day outpatient procedure with fine, well-concealed incisions along the natural eyelid crease. Visible bruising and swelling typically resolve within about a week, and the results are long-lasting. To start, send a photo of the upper eyelid area for the doctor's preliminary review.
Best for · sagging eyelid skin · refreshed appearance · visual-field correction
Includes · upper eyelid skin/fat removal · fine concealed incisions · same-day discharge
ClariVein - Varicose Veins (1 leg)
A modern, minimally invasive alternative to traditional vein stripping surgery for larger varicose veins. A thin catheter is inserted into the vein and combines mechanical agitation with a medicated solution to close the vein from the inside - no surgical cuts, no stitches, and no general anaesthetic needed. Recovery is fast: most patients walk out the same day and resume normal activity within a day or two. A vascular entry examination comes first and is included in the price; if it shows the vein isn't suitable for ClariVein, the doctor uses sclerotherapy instead.
Best for · larger varicose veins · no-cuts/no-general-anaesthetic option · fast recovery
Includes · rotating catheter + medicated vein closure · compression guidance
Trigger Finger Release
Trigger finger happens when a flexor tendon in the finger becomes inflamed and catches as it tries to glide through its sheath, causing the finger to lock, click or snap when bending or straightening. This procedure releases the tight part of the tendon sheath through a small incision at the base of the finger, restoring smooth movement immediately. Done under local anaesthetic as a day case, with light activity possible almost right away and full hand use usually back within a couple of weeks. To start, send a photo of the finger and a short description of the symptoms.
Best for · locked/catching finger tendon · restoring smooth finger movement
Includes · tendon sheath release via small incision · local anaesthetic · same-day discharge
Umbilical / Epigastric Hernia Repair
Repairs a hernia where tissue or part of the intestine pushes through a weak point in the abdominal wall near the navel or just above it - often noticeable as a bulge that's more prominent when straining, coughing, or standing. The weakened area is repaired and reinforced (with mesh if clinically appropriate) through a small incision, under general or regional anaesthetic. Because it's an abdominal procedure, an overnight hospital stay is standard for monitoring before discharge the following day. To start, send a photo of the area and a medical report from your doctor - the type of operation is decided by the doctor, not chosen upfront.
Best for · bulge near navel/upper abdomen · reinforcing the abdominal wall
Includes · hernia repair (mesh if appropriate) · overnight hospital stay · discharge guidance
Inguinal / Femoral Hernia Repair
The most common type of hernia, where tissue pushes through a weak spot in the groin (inguinal) or upper thigh (femoral) area. Repaired surgically, typically with mesh reinforcement for a durable, low-recurrence result, under general or regional anaesthetic. An overnight stay is standard practice for post-operative monitoring, with most patients back to light activity within a couple of weeks. To start, send a photo of the area and a medical report from your doctor; a report issued in your home country is fine.
Best for · groin/upper-thigh hernia · the most common hernia type · durable low-recurrence repair
Includes · mesh hernia repair · overnight hospital stay · discharge guidance
Hernia Repair with Mesh / Implant
A more robust hernia repair using surgical mesh to reinforce a larger defect or a hernia that has recurred after a previous repair - situations where the abdominal wall needs extra structural support to stop it happening again. More involved than a standard repair, but still day surgery with an overnight stay for monitoring. Mesh repairs have a well-established safety record and significantly lower recurrence rates than repairs without reinforcement. To start, send a photo of the area and a medical report from your doctor.
Best for · larger hernias · recurrence after a previous repair · extra structural support
Includes · mesh-reinforced hernia repair · overnight hospital stay · discharge guidance
MICA Bunion Surgery
MICA (Minimally Invasive Chevron and Akin) is a modern keyhole approach to bunion correction, performed through a few tiny incisions rather than the large open incision traditional bunion surgery requires. The bone is repositioned and fixed internally with small screws, and because soft tissue disruption is minimal, patients typically experience less pain, less swelling and a faster return to walking. Usually done under regional anaesthetic with a light cast or supportive shoe worn during the initial healing period. To start, send a photo of the foot and a medical report; an X-ray or its written description helps the doctor assess it more precisely.
Best for · bunion deformity · less scarring · faster return to walking
Includes · minimally invasive chevron + akin correction · internal screw fixation · light cast/supportive shoe
Optional add-ons
Prices include the clinic's entry examination and administrative fee. Where a procedure needs a standard pre-operative examination, it is arranged with an external provider and is not included - always confirmed during your enquiry.
